Police have announced a laundry list of charges for the Calgary man that allegedly sped through the Foothills and engaged in a standoff with RCMP members from four municipalities on May 7.

The incident began when Okotoks and High River RCMP received word from the Calgary Police HAWCS helicopter that two stolen vehicles were heading south out of the city at high speed, an Audi sedan and an SUV.

While RCMP units did not engage in hot pursuit with the vehicles, the HAWCS helicopter was able to track the Audi as it sped through Okotoks, High River and surrounding area.

Eventually the car got entangled on a cable fence in the Hamptons area of High River near Sunshine Trail SE and 3 Avenue SE.

A 17-year-old Airdrie female was arrested close to the site of the crash, while the male driver was spotted breaking into a home several metres away on 3 Avenue, which police quickly surrounded.

Believing the man may be armed, police evacuated adjacent houses and asked residents on the street to shelter in their basements. While police contained the scene, the RCMP's tactical unit, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called in.

RCMP continued to call into the house with a loudspeaker, asking the suspect to come out of the house.

Eventually, tactical units entered the home and were inside for almost an hour.

Just after 9:30 p.m., the suspect, a 22-year-old male, was walked out of the house, flanked by ERT members.

The suspect, Branden Brett Davidson, 22, of Calgary, has been charged with flight from police, possession of stolen property over $5000, four counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, dangerous driving, break and enter, mischief over $5,000, possession of methamphetamine, seven counts of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance, 11 counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and six offences under the Traffic Safety Act.

Davidson has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on June 7th, 2019 at 9:30.

The 17-year-old female from Airdrie faces four criminal charges and has been released on a Youth Justice Court Undertaking with conditions.

No one was injured in the incident.
