Foothills man wins $1 million at lottery corporation event

Tom Jones of the Foothills had the biggest spin of all at a Western Canada Lottery Corporation event in Edmonton.

A Foothills man was the big winner at a Western Canada Lottery Corporation event in Edmonton on May 2.

Tom Jones’ drive from Foothills was well worth the trip as he won $1 million on the Bigger Spin during an event at Century Casino in Edmonton.

The WCLC said six people from across the province that had previously won big on Plinko, the Big Spin and Bigger Spin lottery scratch tickets were given the chance to spin a giant wheel or play Plinko for real for prizes up to $1 million.

Jones said his winnings will be going towards helping his family and rebuilding his dream car: a 1971 Chevelle.

“It hasn’t really hit me yet, but I am very excited,” he admitted. “It’ll be amazing to help out my family with this.”

The six players won a combined $2.7 million as each took a turn on stage at Century Casino Fort Road.

The other winners were:

• Denis Bourassa, from Plamondon, won $300,000.

• Dennis Sigbert Boucher, from Lac La Biche, won $125,000.

• John Russell Kelly, from Vermilion, won $400,000.

• David Goruk, from Smoky Lake, won $100,000.

• Jason MacEachern, from Eckville, won $800,000.
