Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Okotoks and surrounding areas Tuesday afternoon.

At 3:42 p.m., Environment Canada said a second round of heavy snow is expected to begin overnight and continue through Wednesday.

This long duration snowfall event could produce total snowfall amounts as high as 30 to 50 cm, especially over areas with higher terrain.

Snow will become lighter through Wednesday night then finally taper off to flurries Thursday evening.

The warning is for the entire region, including Calgary, although snowfall accumulations will vary depending on location.
