An investigation that started with reports of suspicious activity around a home in Turner Valley has ended in an arrest, narcotics seizures, and charges of drug trafficking. Drugs were located in a vehicle search during a traffic stop on May 15 and the female driver arrested, after which a search warrant was obtained for a Turner Valley residence. The Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Team has been investigating the house since mid April, according to a press release from the RCMP. Turner Valley RCMP executed the search warrant, finding not only narcotics, but also a significant amount of property believed to be stolen. Included in the suspected stolen property is a leather saddle for which the RCMP are working to locate an owner. Police have charged 49-year-old Sharon Nicola Star Wright of Turner Valley with one charge of possession of crack cocaine, one charge of trafficking crack cocaine, and one charge of trafficking oxycodone under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Wright has been released on recognizance and is expected to appear at Turner Valley provincial court on June 5. Turner Valley RCMP worked in conjunction with the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit, which was engaged in the investigation of the property and other people who might be linked to it. The investigation is ongoing and other charges are pending. “Our detachment has listened and responded to community concerns” said Staff Sergeant Dwayne Helgeson, Turner Valley RCMP detachment commander.  “We engaged the assistance of our Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Team whose focus is on using intelligence-led investigative tactics to target those who harm our communities. "In this case, not only Turner Valley, but the surrounding communities have been impacted by this situation.”
