Six markets you must visit in the Foothills this weekend

Ready, set, shop. This weekend is shaping up to be a great opportunity for people to shop local and cross a few things of their Christmas list.

Ready, set, shop.

This weekend is shaping up to be a great opportunity for people to shop local and cross a few things of their Christmas list.

There are six Christmas markets in locations across the foothills from Mossleigh to Bragg Creek and a number of places in between. Each event features unique art work, creations from local artisans, and vendors offering all sorts of one-of-a-kind gifts and rare finds.

Spruce Meadows kicks off its popular International Christmas Market, featuring indoor and outdoor seasonal shopping at the scenic equestrian facility starting at 10 a.m. each day. Admission is $12 per person.

Aspen Crossing in Mossleigh hosts a market with more than 60 vendors, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 14 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 15.

The Bragg Creek Artisans host its 39th annual Christmas Sale at the Bragg Creek Centre, featuring unique works of art in a variety of mediums. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. Admission is free.

The Leighton Art Centre hosts the annual Christmas in the Country Art Sale, featuring art and beautiful decorations throughout the centre. The sale runs each day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Check out local arts, crafts and home-based businesses at the Diamond Valley Christmas Market in the Griffiths Community Centre in Black Diamond from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A collection of donations and proceeds from the table and hall rental will go to the Jeremy Perdue fund at the Alberta Treasury Branch.

The Christmas in DeWinton Craft Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the DeWinton Community Hall featuring vendors, artwork, quilting and the Bow Valley Fiddlers.
