RCMP look to recover saddle stolen from DeWinton property

Okotoks RCMP are turning to the public to help recover a one-of-a-kind horse saddle and tack stolen from a rural property last week.

Sometime in the afternoon hours of Dec. 28, RCMP were called to a break and enter at a DeWinton property. A unique saddle and a number of bridles were stolen from the location.

The saddle is described as a custom Don Rich 15.6-inch saddle, deep red in colour with a ranch-cutter maker mark in multiple places. Other items stolen include custom Keith Wilson stainless steel-covered oak stirrups and bridles describes as custom models by Don Rich and Jim Townsend, with various Jeremiah Watt hardware and bits by Keith Welling, Greg Darnall, Dutton, Garcia and Matt Wheaton.

Okotoks RCMP Cpl. Cory Forsyth asked people to be aware if they see any of these items come up for sale.

“Those people who are familiar with tack and saddles, if they might hear about anyone selling or see something on Kijiji, or any kind of social media, please keep your eyes and ears open for us,” he said.
