UPDATE: Man dies after rescue from Bow

One man is dead after emergency crews responded to the scene of a riverside boat rescue Thursday afternoon after bystanders spotted a canoe capsized in the water. Boat rescue crews from Foothills Fire Dept.

Foothills Fire Department retrieved one person from the Bow River after a call came in of a canoe flipped near Policeman’s Flats just east of HWY-2 on Nov. 15. STARS helicopter was called in to transport the person to Foothills Medical Centre and as of 2:15 p.m. RCMP were investigating.

One man is dead after emergency crews responded to the scene of a riverside boat rescue Thursday afternoon after bystanders spotted a canoe capsized in the water. Boat rescue crews from Foothills Fire Dept. were able to use their jet boat to locate and retrieve the man from the Bow River after a call came in of a capsized canoe and missing boater near Policeman's Flats just east of Highway 2 around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 15. STARS Air Ambulance was called in to transport the man to Foothills Medical Centre, where  he was pronounced deceased. Units from Foothills Fire Dept., Okotoks RCMP, and EMS all responded to the incident. No further information is available at this time and the name of the man will not be released.
