Construction equipment, an air-conditioning unit and two boxes full of empty plastic Christmas light holders were among the items recovered as RCMP searched at a home in central Okotoks.

On the morning of Feb. 8, members of the Okotoks RCMP General Investigative Service and Crime Reduction Units executed a search warrant on the home and arrested two people in the residence at the time.

Officers seized a variety of items at the property, mostly tools and construction equipment.

So far, RCMP have confirmed an air-conditioning unit valued at more than $7,000 was stolen from Calgary. Police have notified the owner who intends to retrieve it, he said. He said they also determined two boxes full of empty Christmas light holders were stolen from a Canadian Tire store in the city.

RCMP Sgt. Sukh Randhawa said officers are still sorting through the rest of the items to determine if they were stolen.

“It’s very difficult for us at this time to come to a conclusion of, if that’s stolen or if it belongs to them because it’s not been reported,” he said.

Randhawa recommended businesses, and individuals, keep an inventory of equipment and items of value that includes serial numbers and other identifying information to help police in the event they are stolen. In the event of a theft, he said people should report it to police.

“If it gets stolen it becomes easy for us to go back and match that,” said Randhawa.

Clinton Masters, 25, of Okotoks, has been charges with one count of possession of stolen property valued more than $5,000. He is in custody and will appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on Feb. 10.

Charges are still pending against the second individual arrested at the residence.
