A High River man has been found dead Sunday morning after going missing the night prior while swimming with friends in the Highwood River.
A High River man has been found dead Sunday morning after going missing the night prior while swimming with friends in the Highwood River.
The 48-year-old went missing after going in search of a better area to swim in the river and friends reported that he did not return.
At approximately 8:45 p.m. Aug. 26, RCMP, in conjunction with the Calgary Police's HAWCS helicopter, RCMP police dogs, and Foothills Search and Rescue were called to search the riverbanks in the evening.
Search efforts were suspended due to low light conditions.
The man was found dead at approximately 9:30 a.m. Aug. 27 by members of the High River Fire Department.
The next of kin have been notified. The RCMP will not be releasing the name of the deceased and are offering their sincere condolences to friends and family.
