News from the Valley Neighbours Club

We are back to regular activities this week, line dancing tomorrow and bingo on Friday. We had an invitational duplicate bridge game on Thursday. It was a lot of fun, perhaps we can make it an annual event.

We are back to regular activities this week, line dancing tomorrow and bingo on Friday. We had an invitational duplicate bridge game on Thursday. It was a lot of fun, perhaps we can make it an annual event. We had our regular duplicate session at 10 a.m. on Dec. 30. The only activity that will be a bit late starting up will be the exercise classes, which will have a start-up date of Jan. 16.

In my last column I was bemoaning the fact that I had no birds and, lo and behold, the redpolls came for Christmas and I’ve seen a couple of pine grosbeaks. Both of these bird species are so colorful against the snow cover. Thanks to the calls and emails from folks telling me about the birds in their back yards.

My great grandson got engaged over the holidays. He did it up with panache. He took his girl to the Banff Springs and proposed on bended knee. He had also arranged for his aunt, who is a photographer, to drive up and take engagement pictures. What a romantic young man.
