Our floor curling windup was so much fun. Winners of the turkey shoot were Al Ziebart, Diane Elkow and Joanne Billington. Floor curling will resume on Jan. 8. Our last afternoon bingo on Dec. 15 was special. Bev had many prizes and a beautiful cake.

Bingo will start up again on Jan. 5.

Watch for two super moons in January, one on New Year’s night and the second on Jan. 31.

Be sure to take in the New Year’s eve celebration at the Flare ‘n’ Derrick Community Hall in Turner Valley.

The festivities start at 5 p.m. and features wagon rides, hot chocolate, snacks, activities for children and, for the first time, a family dance.

It all winds up with fireworks at 8 p.m., early enough to get the kids home and in bed before the adults welcome in the new year.

Tomorrow is the winter solstice, which means the first day of winter.

The upside is that the days will begin to lengthen.
