Kinsmen Park the wrong choice for tiny homes

Dear Editor, While we support the idea of a tiny home project and are well aware that Okotoks is very much in need of more affordable housing, we feel putting it in Kinsmen Park is a very poor choice.

Dear Editor,

While we support the idea of a tiny home project and are well aware that Okotoks is very much in need of more affordable housing, we feel putting it in Kinsmen Park is a very poor choice.

While the Town’s position is that it is lightly used for soccer practice and games during May and June, it is used much more than that.

Kids and adults are there every day playing Frisbee and disc throwing, pick-up games of soccer, football and baseball, skiing and snowshoeing in the winter time to name only a few of the activities.

As surveys in the past have shown, citizens value our pathways and parks very highly. As well as taking away a valued open space, this location is not suitable in our opinion as there is no food store close by. People would need a car or taxi to access one.

We would ask that council consider an alternate location that has better access to services.
