On Saturday, April 21, a traffic stop made by High River RCMP of a truck with a smashed out window on Highway 23 revealed the a trailer it was towing to be stolen.

Two people were arrested and charged; the driver Alfred Sharp, 54, with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, failing to comply with probation, and possession of a controlled substance.

The passenger, Joely Lambourn, 44, was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of breaching recognizance. Both accused were released after a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear in provincial court - Alfred Sharp on April 27 and Joely Lambourn on May 11.

In another incident on the morning of April 22, 2018, High River RCMP attended a complaint of a suspicious Dodge Ram. When responding officers found the vehicle in a ditch with a male transferring items to a BMW SUV, the male jumped into the SUV, ramming a police cruiser in the escape.

RCMP pursued the vehicle until it came to a stop near Highway 547 and Range Road 192 and the man was arrested without incident. A search of the vehicle by RCMP members turned up a number of firearms, including two stolen rifles, a prohibited sawed-off shotgun, and a loaded 9mm handgun. Both vehicles were confirmed to be stolen and several tools and other items were recovered from them.

The suspect, Mitchell Koteles, 27, is facing charges on fourteen Criminal Code offences including assault with a weapon, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, six counts of possession of property obtained by crime, as well as various weapons offences and breaching probation orders. Koteles has been remanded to custody and is scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on April 25.
