A head-on collision east of Black Diamond the night of Nov. 28 claimed the life of a woman and sent a man to hospital in life-threatening condition.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., RCMP and EMS personnel were called to a collision between a car and minivan on Highway 7, near 112 Street.

A press release from Alberta Health Services states paramedics declared the 35-year-old female driver and sole occupant of the car dead at the scene and no resuscitation was initiated.

Given the level of damage from the collision, the first EMS crews on scene requested STARS Air Ambulance respond.

The driver of the minivan, a male in his early 70s, was flown to Foothills Hospital in serious condition with injuries to his legs and pelvis.

The two remaining occupants in the minivan, a woman in her mid-50s and a second woman in her early 30s were transported by ground ambulance to the Foothills Hospital in stable condition, both with minor soft tissue injuries.
