Cactus Club Salon and Spa is inviting princesses, knights and other characters to its Magical Makeover Palace for a day of beauty and an opportunity to capture the moment in a photo booth during Enchanted Okotoks Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. “We’re going to have a photo booth area set up and we’re going to invite people to come dressed in their costumes and we’ll do a little bit of hair and makeup touch-ups,” said owner Mandy Patterson. “We’ll take their photos and send their pictures to them so they can have them. We’ll have some costumes on site if people don’t have any.” When coming up with a way to embrace Enchanted Okotoks, after tying house colour ribbons into customers’ hair for last year’s Wizarding World of Okotoks, Patterson and her staff agreed to focus on fairy tales. “We were thinking about Tangled and how we can incorporate something like that into it,” she said. “We thought our industry aligns well with glamour and beauty and all of the iconic princesses. For the little girls we are planning on giving them a princess glam look.” While the little ones are getting their touch-ups, moms are invited to have a make-up touch up or consult of their own at the same time. “It’s going to have to be quick,” Patterson said. “We’ll do a makeup application and put their hair up to represent the princess that they’re dressed up as.” The service will be offered free of charge, as well as the specialty coffee and the photo booth in the newly-renovated salon, said Patterson. Some of the staff will dress in princess costumes to join in the festivities, she said. “Cactus Club is a huge supporter of Olde Towne Okotoks,” said Patterson. “I feel like any opportunity we have to celebrate our downtown and work together to help people to have more awareness of what businesses and shops and services are available downtown is a great thing. We just want to support any way we can the downtown events that happen.” Patterson said the staff had a blast with the Wizarding World of Okotoks event last year and the fantasy theme this year may be even better. “I think it’s a fantastic idea,” she said. “It appeals to a larger group of people in terms of taking your imagination wherever you would like to take it. I’m sure there’s going to be lots of fun and unique ideas around downtown.”
