Okotoks RCMP are reporting a suspected attack on a teen in the Cimarron area last weekend did not occur as originally reported.

On Nov. 18, RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault on a 16-year-old girl in the backyard behind her home, in which she received a cut to her throat.

Okotoks RCMP conducted a thorough investigation of the report and now say the incident did not take place as was first reported.

The investigation has been concluded and RCMP advise that no suspects are being sought, no charges are being contemplated and no additional witness statements are required.

“There was over 14 officers that were involved in this investigation over the last six days and the team work, the community partnerships and the response by the community was really impressive,” said Okotoks RCMP Sgt. Darrin Turnbull.

The RCMP is not releasing additional information in relation to this incident.
