RCMP investigating fatal collision

RCMP are investigating what lead to a collision that killed a 19-year-old man on Highway 2 south of High River this morning. At approximately 10:45 a.m.

RCMP are investigating what lead to a collision that killed a 19-year-old man on Highway 2 south of High River this morning.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., High River RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on the highway at the intersection of 594 Avenue.

Alcohol and speed were not believed to be factors in this collision.

According to an RCMP press release, preliminary investigation revealed a northbound sedan attempting to make a left turn was hit by a southbound sedan.

The 19-year-old male driver, and lone occupant of the northbound vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the southbound vehicle was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries by STARS Air Ambulance. The adult driver of the southbound sedan was transported to hospital by ground ambulance with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the deceased will not be released.
