Here comes Santa Claus!

Can it be true? Is the Christmas season really here already? I’ve seen a few clues out in the community. The grocery stores have eggnog for sale and the hardware stores have the Christmas lights and decorations front and centre in their displays.

I’ve seen a few houses with their Christmas lights on recently. Slowly but surely we are advancing towards Christmas, one day at a time.

Christmas spirit in our community is set to take flight like Santa’s sleigh at the Light Up Okotoks community event on Friday! The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and there are so many fun things for people of any age. Wagon rides, late night shopping, a visit from Santa, fireworks and so much more. Santa will be at the Olde Towne Plaza Stage around 6:45 p.m. and he will lead a countdown at 7 p.m. when he flips the switch to light up our community Christmas tree.

At the Western Wheel office we will have a Christmas photo booth and 50/50 tickets to raise funds for the 2017 Wheel Cares Charity fundraising campaign. Stop in for a free hot chocolate too!

There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing, so be sure to bundle up and enjoy the evening!

Darren remembers accompanying his father out shopping at the electronics store one Christmas Eve.

Dad said, “Wow! You have the PlayStation4! I’ll buy it.”

The lady behind the counter looked pleased and whispered, “Great, I’m sure your son will really love it.”

Dad replied with a glint in his eye, “Maybe you’re right. In that case I’ll take two.”
