Centennial arenas twice as fun

Today is the day! The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here.

Today is the day!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here.

Hockey players, figure skaters, ringette enthusiasts and folks who just want to get out for a skate, rejoice!

The new Pason Centennial Arenas are open to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 4 p.m.

Did you notice the “s” at the end of “arena” indicating that there is more than one?

That’s because there is not just one ice surface anymore and not even two but a grand total of three sheets of ice under the Pason Centennial roof.

The original rink is now known as the Pason Green Arena.

The new full size rink is known as the Pason Gold Arena and the expanded facility also includes a leisure ice surface to be enjoyed by young and old alike.

The leisure ice rink will be open for enjoyment from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 31.

The leisure ice is open to everyone free of charge. Don’t forget helmets as CSA approved helmets are mandatory for everyone on the ice.

Another aspect of the expanded facility that I’m pretty excited about is that now there is an indoor connection between the Pason Centennial Arenas and the Foothills Centennial Centre.

Over time, I see both facilities benefiting from this connection of the buildings.

See you at the rink!

Why was the dog put in the penalty box? He got two minutes for ruffing.
