Okotoks firefighters, the Town of Okotoks, and the Foothills Hospice Society were presented with a cheque for $1,700 Nov. 2 from Okotoks Denny's raised on their fifth anniversary selling $2 Denny's Grand Slam meals.
A donation from Okotoks Fire Services and Denny’s restaurant will allow the Foothills Country Hospice to purchase much-needed equipment.
To celebrate its fifth anniversary on Oct. 5, Denny’s invited Okotoks Fire Services to kick off Fire Prevention Week serving $1.99 Grand Slam breakfasts while education customers on fire safety with electronic fire extinguisher demonstrations.
In addition, Fire Services took up a “fill the boot” collection, which raised $730 for a total of $1,700.
“We thought, the Hospice provides such a great service to our citizens of our area that we could give in a small way back to those people,” said Okotoks fire chief Ken Thevenot. “In turn, this will help them give others some comfort.”
The funds were presented to the Foothills Country Hospice at a celebration at Denny’s on Nov. 3.
