Student threatens teachers

The classroom may have felt like a prison for an Oilfields High School student who apparently hated a teacher and the school’s principal so much he allegedly told fellow students he wanted them dead, but the comments are now giving him a taste of what it is like to spend time in a real jail cell.
Turner Valley RCMP were called to the school on Thursday, April 24 when students reported that a boy had allegedly told a small group of students that he wanted to hurt and kill the school’s principal, Rick Morales, and an unidentified teacher.
“It was one conversation with a group of students in class,” said Const. Paul McNaughton of the Turner Valley RCMP. “Two students were scared and went to the office and talked to the principal.”
McNaughton said the person who allegedly made the comments was older than the other kids in the classroom.
“He is 18-years-old, but he is not (graduating) this year,” McNaughton said, adding the boy left school for a time and then was readmitted and is currently attending Grade 10 and 11 classes.
Reid James Cunningham of Black Diamond is charged with uttering threats and breaching the terms of probation.
Last week Cunningham was ordered to undergo a psychiatric exam and was deemed fit to stand trial.
Cunningham was ordered to remain in jail until a bail hearing can be held.
He will make his next court appearance today in Okotoks Provincial Court.
The details from his most recent court date were not available by press time.
