Two people are in custody after police tracked a stolen vehicle coming into Okotoks on April 15.
At about 2 p.m., Okotoks RCMP responded to a stolen vehicle being driven towards Okotoks on Highway 2A, Okotoks RCMP said in a statement.
Police say the vehicle had been stolen from a Calgary car dealership earlier in the day and was being tracked by a Calgary Police Service helicopter.
The vehicle entered Okotoks, where a lone male suspect was arrested in the Cimarron neighbourhood after a foot chase, Mounties said.
Meanwhile, RCMP said the helicopter located a second vehicle at the Westmount Centre business park on Southridge Drive. The vehicle was believed to be acting as an accomplice to the other vehicle and had also been stolen.
The male driver was located on a nearby foot path and was taken into custody without incident with help from a Calgary Police Service (CPS) canine unit.
RCMP said the scenes have been cleared and the suspects turned over to CPS, which continues to investigate.
Both suspects are residents of Calgary, and Okotoks RCMP did not provide information about charges and said no further updates would be provided.
