Dear Editor,
Recently received my Okotoks utility bill so have been reviewing my bills for the past six months.
I was expecting the newly mandated increase for Waste Services (that was sprung on us this past fall for the new carts – ordered one-and-a-half years prior to “information sessions” for taxpayers!)
However, although basic water and sewer has only increased slightly, I was appalled to see a big jump for my metered water (for January and February) by about 66 per cent! Why? I certainly was not watering my lawn and I am the lone occupant and water user in my household. As well, my Sewer Generation Charge – whatever that is – increased by amounts of $8-14 over previous months. Overall, my Okotoks utility bill has increased by 38 per cent, a jump of almost $39 – a lot of money for a single pensioner.
I shudder to see what my electric and gas bills will be now. Thanks Rachel!
Looking forward to the Town elections this fall.
