Weather par for the course

Fundraiser golf tournament season is in full swing and I’ve participated in the local tour as much as possible. I previously wrote in this column about the Foothills Stingrays Swim Club golf tournament at Crystal Ridge when we played through the pouring rain. Even though we were soaked it was an adventure and we had a lot of laughs in the clubhouse afterwards.

The weather was significantly better for the Rotary Golf Classic on July 10.

It was absolutely pouring rain on the morning of July 10, but by the time the tournament started at 1 p.m. the rain had tapered off. The timing was perfect because as soon as everyone was off the course it started raining heavy again.

The number of golfers in the tournament was down this year but it was still a worthwhile fundraiser with proceeds going to Foothills Search and Rescue.

The weather at the Sheep River Health Trust golf tournament on July 13 was absolutely glorious. Plus 30C and sunshine was the order for the day at the Turner Valley Golf Course.

In addition to the proceeds raised at the golf tournament itself, the High River District Health Care Foundation presented a $40,000 cheque to the Sheep River Health Trust. Combined with previous fundraising, their fundraising goal has now been achieved for a new tub room at the Oilfields General Hospital.
