Wow. I am completely overwhelmed by your generosity towards the 2017 Wheel Cares charity fundraising campaign. The fundraising campaign ended on December 31 and when the donations were all counted there was a whopping $54,613.46 to be shared by the eight Wheel Cares Charities.
The charities supported by Wheel Cares 2017 are Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary & Area, Foothills Country Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Magic of Christmas, Okotoks Food Bank, Rowan House Society, Sheep River Health Trust and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
Your donations have helped all of these important charities to continue to do good work in our communities that helps so many.
2017 was the sixth year of the Wheel Cares charity fundraising campaign and over those six years close to a quarter million dollars has been collected and provided to local charities. To be exact, the six-year total is $248,467.03!
One of the great things about Wheel Cares is that all $248,467.03 that has been collected has been provided to the local charities. The Western Wheel covers all of the costs of running the fundraising campaign so that 100 per cent of your donation goes to the local charities.
I also want to thank everyone who works with me at the Western Wheel for your continued dedication to making Wheel Cares successful for the charities.
Wheel staff volunteered to run a photo booth for Wheel Cares donations at the Wizarding World of Okotoks, we sold 50/50 tickets and had a photo booth for Wheel Cares donations during Light Up Okotoks and we collected donations at the Okotoks Chamber of Commerce Christmas social. We wrote about the charities supported by Wheel Cares and created advertisements to raise awareness. We did all of the administrative work of collecting your donations and providing them to the charities.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make Wheel Cares a success for the local charities again in 2017! Together we’ve made a significant positive impact in our communities.
