The feast continues for the Foothills Falcons.

Foothills’ senior boys rugby side kept its undefeated mark going in the Big Sky with yet another comfortable victory in a 33-12 triumph over the host Bow Valley Bobcats on April 27 in Cochrane.

“We basically had control of the game,” said Falcons coach Steve Wager. “What went well was there was good support from the forwards with the backs when we transitioned the ball off set plays.”

The Falcons spread out the offence in the victory with four different players putting the ball down in the try-zone.

Grade 10 fly-half Thomas Isherwood continued to impress with a team-leading two trys. Hard-nosed forwards Gavin Millard and Liam Hamlyn provided majors along with fellow Grade 12 student and speedster Erick Osberg.

The Falcons ladies also extended their winning ways in Cochrane, blowing out the Bobcats by a 41-10 margin.

Foothills’ boys improved to 2-0 in the Big Sky. Along with their four wins at the Calgary Canadian Irish Athletic Club High School Icebreaker, the Falcons have yet to taste defeat in 2016.

“They are very excited,” Wager said.

Next up for the Falcons is a home game versus the Rundle College Cobras on May 4.

It might be difficult for the Comp not to look past its next fixture as one big date looms large on the schedule.

The annual cross-town classic with the rival Holy Trinity Academy Knights goes on May 12.

Foothills got the better of the Knights at the Icebreaker tournament, but HTA has looked mighty impressive in league play with a 3-0 record including a comprehensive victory over the talented Strathcona-Tweedsmuir Spartans in its most recent action.

“It’s our big test which were always building for,” Wager said.

The Falcons also added a postponed game with the West Island College Wolves back on its schedule. The Comp will now welcome the Wolves on May 18 at Falcons field.

In other action this week, the Spartans make their road debut in a trip to the city to take on West Island College. The Knights’ 2 team travels to High River to tango with the Mustangs with HTA’s 1 team making the trek to Cochrane to square-off against the Bobcats.

On May 5, the Oilfields Drillers and Springbank Phoenix renew hostilities in Black Diamond in a back-to-back contest with the ladies getting things underway at 5 p.m. followed by the boys at 6:30 p.m.
