Proof needed on green jobs rhetoric

Dear Editor,

In response to column “Shifting sands lead to change”

I often wonder how we will be upgrading our aging infrastructure with environmentally sound materials and methodologies. Where does all the money come from to do this? Do we borrow the money and force our yet to be born children and grandchildren to pay it back? Do we tax those who have jobs even more? Now more than ever we need more than words from governments.

They all talk the green jobs buzz words but I am still waiting for a description of what and where these green jobs are. What skills are required where do people train for them?

Windmills and solar panels create very few jobs and they are not capable of powering our cities and country. Canada is a northern country winter is cold dark and long. Virtually eliminating solar on any large scale. We need energy to heat our homes and feed ourselves.

The anti-oil sands drive has helped to cripple our economy in Alberta mostly led by people who do not even live here work here or pay taxes here I am not against being responsible towards environmental issues, but till other provinces step up and apply the same scrutiny to foreign oil that is applied to Alberta oil the entire campaign will do nothing but create high unemployment and massive government debt.

One only needs to look at Ontario to see the mess they are in from the green energy program.

Paying higher taxes to fund these schemes does nothing but allow for more waste of our tax dollars. Until I hear of what these green jobs are and where they are, I will remain very unconvinced on any of these green schemes. And, very unconvinced that the present federal and provincial governments have a plan besides buzz words and feel good slogans and further massive government debts and even higher taxes.
