Police have uncovered a surprise discovery of marijuana plants left to grow northeast of Okotoks.

Okotoks RCMP were called Aug. 20 after an individual found a number of marijuana plants growing in pots on a parcel of crown land near 128 Street east in the MD of Foohills.

“It appears somebody planted these marijuana plants in the pots and just left them there to grow thinking later on they could move them around,” said Okotoks RCMP sgt. Sukh Randhawa

A total of 10 plants growing in pots were seized from the location.

According to Randhawa, the marijuana plants are nearly waist height. He said there was nothing at the site to indicate who left them or whether they had recently returned to the location.

RCMP continue to investigate this case and Randhawa is asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area in recent weeks or months to contact police.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact Okotoks RCMP at 403-938-4202. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) or online at www.tipsubmit.ca
