Plan gouges residents

Dear Editor,

After rolling my cart of tottering bins of recycle from curbside into the newly upgraded recycle centre and negotiating through other individuals and bins at each stall in the cramped space provided, I popped in Macdonalds for coffee.

When I left I had to search for the one tiny slot set aside for Recycles. The garbage bins throughout were filled with paper goods, coffee cups and plastic goodies. The major perpetrators of dumped waste are the construction sites, restaurants, golf courses, etc and yet the town has forced the home owners to pay for the dubious privilege of recycling, something many of us have been practising diligently for years.

Judging from the weekly letters in the Western Wheel, this move by council has touched a nerve and I am not alone in being disgusted.

I do not want their big blue bin and I do not want my money arbitrarily taken from my pocket. There is most certainly enough of that happening already.
