Dear Editor,
Around this time every year people complain about the accumulation of dog poop once the snow is off the ground.
I am a dog owner. I try to be a responsible dog owner. I walk my dog three times a day and pick up after her.
Not to excuse the inactions of people with pets under their control (on or off leash), I also see an accumulation of plastic bags, drinks containers and snack wrappers at this time of year.
I deal with the unsightly accumulation by taking a bag with me on my walk and picking up that which offends me. Due to the snow’s ability to blanket and preserve it only takes a few irresponsible or oblivious people through the winter for an unsightly accumulation of dog poop and litter in the spring.
I hope that by my actions the offenders will see there are those that care about their community and will adjust their behaviour accordingly.
