Green bin organics collection schedules are changing this week.

As of Oct. 31, the Town will collect organics every two weeks. Since the service began on Oct. 3, the Town collected organics on a weekly schedule.

Paul Lyons, waste services manager, said the Town is cutting back the schedule as winter approaches.

“There tends to be a decline in the amount of material that is collected over the winter months,” he said.

Collection will go ahead the week of Oct. 31 for homes that have organics collection scheduled on Mondays and Fridays. Collection will then occur again two weeks later.

Homes with collection on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will have organics collected on the week of Oct. 10 and every second week afterwards.

The Town will move back to weekly organics collection again in May through to the end of October 2017.

Full collection schedules are available on the town’s website at www.okotoks.ca. Paper copies of the collection schedule are available at the Eco Centre, the Municipal Centre and the Town Operation Centre.
