One person dead in collision south of Aldersyde overpass

One person is dead and three others were injured after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2A south of the Aldersyde overpass at approximately 10:50 a.m.

One person is dead and three others were injured after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2A south of the Aldersyde overpass at approximately 10:50 a.m.

According to Alberta Health Services, an adult female died from injuries sustained in the collision.

An adult male was transported to the South Calgary Health Campus by ground ambulance in potentially life-threatening condition with a variety of injuries. A second adult male was taken to Foothills Hospital by ground ambulance in serious condition with non-life-threatening internal injuries.

An adult female was also transported to Rockyview General Hospital with minor injuries.

EMS paramedics from Okotoks, Nanton, High River and Black Diamond attended the scene. STARS air ambulance was called to the scene but did not transport any patients to hospital.

Highway 2A, between the traffic lights at the Aldersyde overpass and 418 Avenue north is closed.

Okotoks Staff Sgt. Jim Ross said it is too early to determine the cause of the accident, however, further details we be released later.
