The Okotoks Chamber of Commerce kicked off the new year with in a new home.

The chamber opened the door on its new home at Stockton Block on McRae Street last week giving it room to grow in the coming years.

Chamber president Andrew Gustafson said the organization outgrew its former one-room office in the Executive Business Centre.

“We had two people and two contractors that were operating out of one office space and the Stockton Block space we now have two offices,” he said.

The chamber is looking to grow, both its membership and its role as a voice for the business community. The new location is essential as the chamber moves forward, Gustafson said.

The building, formerly the town office before the new municipal centre opened in 2008, is currently home to Community Futures Highwood and a business incubator program.

He said the location is ideal for the chamber to expand its work with Community Futures Highwood.

“It’s a bit of a win-win,” he said.

Chamber CEO Cheryl Actemichuk said the new location suits the organization perfectly.

Not only does it have more room to work and grow, but also it will allow the chamber to work closer with Community Futures Highwood.

“To me it makes sense,” she said. “So many people already come to this building to either get a chamber membership or they’re going to Community Futures so it’s an opportunity for us to greet, meet, educate and help them do better at their business.”

The office is open from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
