Police are investigating after human remains were found in Eden Valley.

Turner Valley RCMP responded to a report of remains a person discovered in a wooded area in the First Nations reserve west of Longview May 10 at 8 a.m., but say there is little more they can release at this time.

The Calgary Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on May 11. An anthropologist will work with the remains to determine the gender and estimated time of death.

“It could take over a week,” Cpl. Laurel Scott, media relations officer, said of when more information will be available. “It’s not a fast turnaround.”

The RCMP are not releasing specific details about what was found or how the remains were discovered at this time.

Turner Valley RCMP Sgt. Paulina Larrey-King said members have finished collecting data at the site and won’t have further information until the medical examiner releases it.

“If there is anything more, we will share it,” she said.

Calgary Forensic Identification Services and RCMP Major Crimes South are assisting local RCMP officers with the investigation. Search and Rescue resources were used to gather additional information at the scene.
