A Millarville woman who's discovered how to live a joyful life is arming others to do the same.

On the heels of publishing her book Living Joy: Empowering ways to reduce and manage stress, certified health coach Heather Driedger is hosting a full-day health conference April 8 at the Red Deer Lake Community Hall to help others on the path to make changes in their lives.

“I feel this world needs more living joy,” she said. “It's day-to-day changes you can make that can make a huge impact. It's important to understand the value of why you need to reduce and manage your stress.”

Driedger said Living Joy shares her message, in collaboration with wellness experts, about the symptoms and effects of stress and how angel empowerment, crystals, buteyko breathing, earthing, essential oils and deep chocolate can reduce it.

“These are things that were a significant part of what I did on a daily basis to empower myself and reduce and manage my stress,” she said. “There's research and examples and testimonials throughout the book. They'll go away and be inspired to explore something new and take it to the next level.”

Driedger is a certified intuitive health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York and spent 35 years discovering her authentic self through exploring an array of alternative therapies and spiritual philosophies.

As a health coach, she provides resources and support to help clients achieve their goals.

“My goal is to empower people to make positive changes to bring more joy, peace and love to their life and to understand that having a support system and knowledge and resources and accountability can make significant progress to improve their health and wellness,” she said. “It is a rewarding career when you see your client's life transform.”

Through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Driedger enrolled in a course that provided the framework, support and motivation to launch a “dream book.” Her aim was to help others reduce stress and live a joyful life.

“Writing a book is a vehicle for sharing your message,” she said. “My message is how to live joy. With clients, friends, family and people that were coming into my life stress was impacting everyone.”

Living Joy is split into various chapters that focus on the tools Driedger uses to reduce stress. A lesser-known method is Buteyko, or breath retraining.

“When we learn to breath properly it reduces stress,” she said. “I'm not an expert, but I've done the program, I used the techniques and it helped me with better health, better sleep, better performance in my exercise.”

The earthing chapter explains the importance of making a barefoot connection to the earth and using earthing products to reduce stress while the final chapter describes the benefits of the super food deep chocolate, as well as the best sources, how to make it and its health benefits.

Driedger is bringing these topics, experts and products to next month's health conference.

“They're going to be inspired and empowered to try some of these new techniques and products to reduce and manage their stress,” she said. “I'm sure out of the six topics there's something that everybody is going to take away. I want this day to be something they never experienced before.”

Tickets cost $97 before April 3 ($87 when bought in quantities) and $125 from April 3 until the cut-off of April 5 at noon. Tickets can be purchased at www.livingjoybook.com. Ticketholders will receive lunch and $100 worth of gifts, including a copy of Living Joy.
