The widow of a man killed while cycling cried and hugged family and friends after hearing a guilty verdict against the driver who struck and killed her husband.
Joely Lambourn, 43, was found guilty of dangerous driving in the death of Deric Kryvenchuk, a stay-at-home father of two young daughters.
The five man, six woman jury handed down a verdict after deliberating for just over three hours today (March 9).
Lambourn put her head in her hands and cried as the verdict was read.
Kryvenchuk was cycling west along Highway 7 near the Okotoks Costco on May 4, 2015 when Lambourn's vehicle struck him on the shoulder of the road.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three witnesses testified at the trial they saw Lambourn swerve into oncoming traffic two to five times as she drove west on Highway 7 between the Aldersyde Petro Canada and the collision site.
