Gas plant should be torn down

Dear Editor,

Re: Work begins on new trail.

It’s high time the visually and environmentally repulsive blot on the landscape, known as the Turner Valley Gas Plant “Historical Site,” be torn down and the surrounding land and Sheep River reclaimed.

Who knows for sure what it has been belching into the river and surrounding countryside for all these years?

The reclaimed property could then be converted into perhaps a commemorative town park, complete with a monument if so desired.

It could truly become a destination for the citizens of Turner Valley and the many visitors to this area of Alberta.

Because it is both a provincial and federal “historic site” perhaps our otherwise proactive mayor should contact both levels of government to get the ball rolling on this.
