Filling a truck for Fort Mac

Foothills residents looking to donate to Fort McMurray can fill a truck with non-perishable and personal items this weekend.

Foothills residents looking to donate to Fort McMurray can fill a truck with non-perishable and personal items this weekend.

Verg Reidlinger, of Good Time Party Rentals, has partnered with Canadian Oil Sands and Mullen Trucking to send a truckload of items north next week.

“A Good Time I had about 1,000 chairs and some barbecues that weren’t being used anymore, so I thought they could probably use chairs up there,” said Reidlinger.

He spoke to his son, vice-president of Canadian Oil Sands, who arranged transportation with Mullen Trucking. At least 12 employees of Okotoks-based Canadian Oil Sands have lost their homes to the fire.

“I realized I wouldn’t be able to fill a whole trailer,” said Reidlinger. “So I called up Sobeys and we arranged to park the trailer there for the weekend and let people donate what they can.

“And Mullen said if we fill one trailer, we’ll bring in another one.”

Items and cash donations will be collected in the Sobeys parking lot on Saturday and Sunday.
