The 37th annual Terry Fox Run is happening on Sunday Sept. 17, 2017 in Okotoks. Registration at the Crystal Shores Beach House begins at 9:30 a.m. and the run starts at 11 a.m. The annual Terry Fox Run is wonderful for many reasons, one of them being that running is optional. Participants are welcome to walk, run or bike. Strollers are welcome and it’s a dog friendly event. To pre-register online or for more information go to www.Terryfox.org.

Best of luck to Western Wheel reporter Krista Conrad who is participating in the Terry Fox Run this Sunday and currently raising funds to realize Terry’s vision; a world without cancer.

The annual Big Bike Ride for the Heart and Stroke Foundation is also set to roll this Sunday, Sept. 17. I’ve been on the Big Bike before and I’m looking forward to riding on the Big Bike again this year. If you’ve never seen it, it’s a red bike with 30 seats, 60 pedals and its a lot of fun to take out for a spin. The ride begins at 10:30 a.m. and the route starts and ends at the George Traditional House. When the ride concludes at 1 p.m., a BBQ will follow at the George Traditional House.

To donate or participate, please visit bigbike.ca. From there, click Join a team, Okotoks, select the ride date of September 17. For any and all inquiries please contact Tamara Boivin at (403) 607-9574 or [email protected].

My son: Why did the chicken cross the road?

Me: I don’t know.

Son: To get to the nitwit’s house!

Son: Knock, Knock.

Me: Who’s there?

Son: It’s the chicken.
