Okotoks and area health care services will be in the spotlight at a special event this weekend.
The Okotoks and Foothills Health Show will feature more than 45 local vendors and speakers highlighting a diverse range of health and wellness services available in the community.
Event organizer Kendra Kane said vendors will include naturopaths, pharmacies, people who cater to supplements, weight management and overall health.
“It is a show that showcases local and immediate area businesses that cater to health, whether that be a resource, whether that be a product, or whether that be a service,” she said.
The activities will take place at the Foothills Centennial Centre in Okotoks on June 26.
She said there is an increasing number of big-box stores opening in Okotoks and it can be difficult for small, mom-and-pop-type businesses to compete. She said she wanted to highlight local independent businesses in the health and wellness sector and give them a chance to boost their visibility and attract customers.
“Our whole premise with the show is to reintroduce to the local people the different resources that they have, whether that be a practitioner that is offering a multi-disciplinary therapy or it’s the new product lines that are out there that are probably a lot higher quality,” she said.
She said there will be some on-site providing demonstrations of their products and services. There will also be three keynote speakers, discussing holistic issues, women’s issues and nutrition and supplements.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is by donation to the Okotoks Food Bank. There will also be a food truck on-site during the event.
