Anyone looking to get involved in sports, the arts or music in the Foothills area this fall will get all the information they need under one roof next week.
The Town of Turner Valley is hosting its annual community group joint registration night on Sept. 13 to give residents in the area details about the various community-based sports teams, recreation groups, art clubs, music instructors, volunteer organizations and other associations they could join.
The event takes place at the Flare ‘n’ Derrick Community Hall in Turner Valley from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“This is a great way for folks to be introduced to the various clubs that are not only in Black Diamond and Turner Valley, but also in Okotoks, the MD and Millarville,” said Hazel Martin, the Town’s community events coordinator. “We have art groups, sports, the Diamond Valley Block Parent group, yoga classes, music studios and dance studios.”
Booths will be set up with representatives from more than 24 local organizations providing information and answering questions, said Martin.
“It’s more than we’ve had in the past,” she said. “We’ve had interest from groups that have not participated in the past, which is wonderful. It’s growing.”
