Before I start my moan, I want to say that our family has lived in Okotoks for the last seven years and loves living here.
We live on a corner lot on Westmount Crescent and have ready access to a small green space in which deer often take shelter when we get a cold snap - something I hope to never tire of seeing.
Over the years, I have noticed an increase in dog owners who, either because it snowed or just can’t be bothered, leave their dog mess on the ground and don’t pick it up.
The Town even provides poo bags! I would be happy to pay an additional fee when I renew my licence to get a DNA test done so that any waste found could be collected, tested and the owner fined.
I appreciate that this would entail the employment of someone to do this, but given the amount of poop lying around, the fines taken would more than pay for it!
Please - dog owners, clean up after your animals. We have a Newfie and yes, she “goes” proportionate to her size, but that doesn’t stop us from picking up after her.
