The community-wide curb side recycling and organics collection program became quite controversial. The respectful input received from people both for and against have brought about changes that improve the overall program. I believe that a balance was found that could be acceptable to most people.
The lengthy and lively debate regarding the recycling and organics program was during the first council meeting with the new Okotoks Chief Administrative Officer, Elaine Vincent. I was thoroughly impressed by the advice provided by Ms. Vincent throughout the meeting.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation Big Bike will be in Okotoks on Sunday, September 18. Helping pedal the Big Bike is always fun and its not too late to be part of it this year. There will be a community BBQ after the Big Bike ride with donations going to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. My uncle, John Rockley, passed away unexpectedly last Thursday at the age of 72. When I was growing up Uncle John always spoke with me as an equal, which was incredible because I felt that most adults talked to me as if I was a baby. He would make me laugh and I always enjoyed the time we spent together.
He will be missed by many.
