Black Diamond byelection

Things are heating up in Black Diamond with a summer byelection to elect a new mayor and one new councillor.

Things are heating up in Black Diamond with a summer byelection to elect a new mayor and one new councillor. These positions became available when Michel Jackson resigned from his councillor position for health reasons and when Sharlene Brown resigned from her position as mayor after being hired as the town’s new CAO. I wish Sharlene all the best in her new role and I’m certain that she will be extremely effective. I also wish Michel Jackson all the best. I know from working with him on various regional topics that Michel was a hard working and dedicated councillor.

There are two candidates running for the vacant position of mayor. Glen Fagan and Leslie Miller. There are also two candidates seeking out the vacant councillor position. Dave Geske and Brian Marconi.

There’s still time for the citizens of Black Diamond to learn about these candidates before the municipal byelection on August 22. Watch for Black Diamond by-election coverage in the Western Wheel and an election forum is scheduled on Aug. 9, 7 p.m. at the Griffiths Seniors Centre.
