Artists in a rhubarb

On June 4 under sunny skies, the Sheep Creek Arts Council held its 11th annual rhubarb tea, quilt show and bake sale.

These were successful events once again, largely due to the support of our members and community volunteers. Thank you!

The Sheep Creek Arts Council especially wishes to recognize the festival originators Sheila Virgo for the quilt show and Gwenn Smith for the rhubarb tea.

Thank you to all who donated rhubarb. Without the rhubarb from your gardens we wouldn’t have been able to provide our community members with rhubarb pie and crisp and the baked goods so many have come to enjoy.

We also wish to acknowledge Doug Lansdale for driving his antique truck in the parade and for, once again, carrying our signs.

Thank you to the ladies who prepared 46 rhubarb pies, served at the tea and sold as part of the bake sale. Without the servers, kitchen help and those who helped set up (Lions Club) and take down the tables, the festival would not have been possible.

The quilt show showed beautiful arrangement of large and small quilts as well as charity quilts done by the Diamond Valley Quilters.

Ten charity quilts were donated to Rowan House, two of which were group projects by the Diamond Valley Quilters and others donated by Nancy Neufeld. Thank you to all who helped with the set up and take down of the quilt racks and hanging of the quilts.

There were first and second place winners chosen by the visitors to the show.

In the large size category Nancy Neufeld took first prize and second prize went to Sue Knowler. In the small category first prize went to Gail Briggs and second prize went to Nancy Neufeld.

Thank you to everyone to showed their quilts. They were all beautifully done and showed the love and hard work put into every one. Winner of the door prize was Heather, donated by Donna Kendall.
