Okotoks RMCP have a suspect wanted for an attempted robbery at an Okotoks bank in custody.

On Nov. 22 a lone male entered the Okotoks Bank of Montreal and handed a teller a note demanding money. He eventually fled the scene without any money.

The Okotoks RCMP General Investigative section identified a suspect and an arrest warrant was issued on Nov. 30.

The suspect was arrested in Calgary with assistance from the Calgary Police Service tactical and robbery units and taken to the Okotoks RCMP detachment.

Cody Lebeuf, 27, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of robbery – one in relation to the Okotoks case and a second regarding a Nov. 14 incident in Chestermere – as well as charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and wearing a disguise with intent.

Lebeuf is in custody awaiting a judicial interim release hearing.

Okotoks RCMP credit tips from the public for assisting their investigation.

“This crime was solved, in part, with the assistance of the public who provided tips following an earlier media release,” said Okotoks GIS Cpl. Darryl Dawkins. “We appreciate that level of community engagement.”
