A festival of photo-ops

There was no shortage of controversy surrounding our Prime Ministerís recent trip to India.
Inviting Jaspal Atwal over for dinner while in India didnít go over well considering his past membership in a banned Sikh terrorist group that was convicted in 1986 for an attempted murder of a cabinet minister from India who was visiting Canada.
Please remind me, was the purpose of the trip was to build better relationships with the India government?
The aspect of the trip that quickly shifted from strange to a comedy show was the prolific costume changes in traditional Indian garments with accompanying photo opportunities. It was done so frequently it led to public comments from India politicians explaining that they donít actually dress that way.
Iím thinking about the precedent that has been set by this. When heads of state from foreign countries visit Canada will they be thinking that they are expected to reciprocate his enthusiasm for donning the traditional costume of the place visited?
Iím picturing Theresa May approaching Ottawa on the back of a moose while wearing a touque with a pom pom on top plus a red and black plaid coat.
