Downtown Okotoks has been a busy place this summer and the upcoming weekend will be no exception.

Sunday from 10am to 4pm the main street will be closed and about 500 beautiful automobiles will line the streets. There will be vendors, beer gardens, live music and of course the Quilt Stroll.

I am told the live bands which will play at the clock tower and also in front of Grand Central will be fantastic.

Yes, folks it will be a Sunday for some good old ‘rock and roll’. Also if you can please bring a non perishable item for our local food bank as we hope to fill a truck with items.

Dawgs season is over but boy it was fun. Next year look out!

Crazy weather last week! Most of the hail damage was north of Calgary but we did get one storm pass through last Friday. Huge chunks of ice falling from the sky. Short lived but thinned out the flower pots at home I can tell you. There was so much damage on Thursday evening in Airdrie from three storms that it will take up to a year to get all the damage fixed. Thousands of vehicles damaged including windows. Looks like a war zone in some of the neighbourhoods.

The MD of Foothills has declared a fire ban so those affected need to know that the fire pits need to remain cold until we get some much needed rain. BBQ’s are still OK as long as they are gas or propane.

About three weeks of summer holidays left before the students will be back in the classroom. Some will be thrilled and others? Not all students will be pleased to see their summer end. I asked a grade two kid the other day if he was looking forward to going back and he can hardly wait. I asked what part of school he liked best and he said “homework”. Oh my obviously not one of mine! I had never heard that answer before. Anyway enjoy the next couple weeks!
