Dear Editor,

Can someone explain to me why there isnít an idling bylaw in Okotoks? I am astounded at the number of people (especially truck owners) who think it is a good idea to idle their vehicles for ridiculously long lengths of time.

In the winter Iíve seen vehicles idling for an hour! In the summer Iím seeing the same thing. Not only is it bad for the environment, itís not good for an engine either.

Do people not comprehend this? What is the point? Am I missing something?

Maybe I could understand this phenomenon if there was a reasonable explanation but thereís not. It simply DOES. NOT. MAKE. SENSE. Are people lazy? Do they forget? Seriously, whatís the deal? Everywhere I go in this town people are running their vehicles for no particular reason and Council doesnít do a damn thing about it. Lets get with the 21st century and make some changes.

Darren Frusciante,

Okotoks
