RCMP continue to investigate the finding of a body found in Lineham channel, near a popular walking path in High River.
RCMP found the body after receiving a phone call at approximately 10:15 a.m. Monday morning. The body was found not far from a footbridge going over the channel, along Centre Street in north High River.
The body was identified as 53-year-old Arlene Diana Mann of High River on Tuesday.
The area was taped off and 24-hour RCMP surveillance was done at the site.
However, RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Sharon Franks said that would be business as usual and there is not any indication of foul play.
“If there is a scene like that and we are looking for information, we have an obligation to hold that in the event there is something suspicious,” she said. “It does not mean that (there is foul play) it means we are holding the scene unless something suspicious arises.”
The body was taken to the Calgary Medical Examiner’s office and an autopsy was performed on Tuesday. The Lineham channel does connect portions of the Highwood River. While there is some water in the channel, there is little flow at this time.
In a press release RCMP stated it is early in the investigation and are asking anyone who saw or spoke to Mann between Sunday, Aug. 3 and Monday at 10:15 a.m. are asked to contact High River RCMP at (403) 652-2357 or contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477. She had cut her hair since the above photo was taken. She was also not wearing glasses when she went missing.
